"Hi and welcome to my profile! I am originally from Miami, Florida and looking forward to meeting the bright students here in California. My experience in teaching stems over seven years. I am a dedicated innovative teacher with the talent and skills for creating exciting lessons that promote self-discovery and critical thinking skills. I incorporate technology, fun activities, and real-life scenarios to motivate you the learner. I have successfully used current methods and assessment results to strengthen reading skills for lower performing students with the ability to deliver individualize instruction appropriate for their abilities.

I am passionate about social studies! It teaches us how we interact with each other and how our world functions. I have been teaching History and Government four years after being certified as a teacher. I am also certified in drama education after earning a degree in performance art. And so, I have worked with all age groups from kindergarden to 12th grade. As your tutor I will track your growth and progress through periodic assessments. We will focus on learning objectives from your teacher so that we can focus on what you need to learn. You will receive materials that simplifies the content into understandable parts. Sometimes, a session will include studying the information using effective study practices so that you can study on your own. Other sessions may include assistance with assignments, all to deepen your understanding of the content.

Reading fluency and skills has always been one of my strengths. My passion for reading always finds its way in my instruction. Although my area of specialty is social studies, I always strive to apply reading skills in my instruction such as determining main ideas, detecting sequence, and using context clues. I feel reading skills are the core foundation for any subject. Mastering some of these reading skills will make learning social studies much easier for you.
