"I am currently a third-year computer science major at Berea College, where I have built a strong academic foundation in problem solving, programming, and analytical thinking. Alongside my coursework, I have completed two internships at NASA, where I worked closely with engineers and fellow interns in robotics and computer engineering–focused environments. These experiences strengthened my technical knowledge while also developing my ability to explain complex concepts clearly, collaborate with diverse teams, and adapt my teaching style to different learning needs.
My teaching and mentoring experience spans a wide range of ages and contexts. For multiple summers, I mentored and coached young children through soccer programs, where I learned how to communicate patiently, motivate learners, and break skills into approachable steps. At NASA, I mentored students in robotics and computer engineering settings, often working one-on-one or in small groups to guide them through technical challenges, encourage critical thinking, and build confidence in their abilities. These experiences required clear communication, adaptability, and an emphasis on hands-on learning.
Additionally, I have experience teaching English to Spanish-speaking adults, primarily seniors between the ages of 30 and 45, in a one-on-one and small-group setting. This role required cultural awareness, empathy, and the ability to explain concepts in multiple ways to ensure understanding. Across all of my teaching and mentoring roles, my approach focuses on meeting students where they are, fostering curiosity, and creating a supportive learning environment that encourages growth and confidence." less...
