"Hi, I’m Mariam, and I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English from Rutgers University. After completing my degree, I earned my New Jersey CEAS teaching certification and later added a Google Project Management credential to my skill set. For over five years, I taught middle school English Language Arts to students in grades 6 through 8, designing lessons that built critical thinking and writing proficiency. In that classroom setting, I learned to tailor instruction to diverse learners—guiding my students through literary analysis, creative writing exercises, and exam preparation—while fostering their confidence in reading and self-expression.

Over the past three years, I’ve also tutored students one-on-one, helping them strengthen grammar, essay composition, and test-taking strategies. With younger learners aged 10 to 12, I emphasize foundational skills through interactive reading and engaging writing prompts. For older students, I focus on constructing clear arguments and expanding vocabulary, always starting with an informal assessment to pinpoint each learner’s strengths and areas for growth. Whether I’m collaborating with a high school junior on a college-essay draft or helping a tween overcome writer’s block, I rely on clear explanations, modeling, and timely feedback to keep lessons both effective and enjoyable.
