A good English teacher gives their students constructive feedback and helps them to learn from it. Getting regular feedback from students is very important, so that teachers are aware of how students perceive lessons and to make sure they are happy and learning with interest.

Understanding the relationships between letters and sounds allows children to pronounce, comprehend, and decode, new words as they encounter them in print. It is important to explicitly teach phonics skills through modeled, guided, and independent teaching strategies.

Most children begin to learn English spelling words and spelling rules in the first and second grades, at the same time as they are learning how to read and write. And while being able to spell is not necessarily a reflection of a child’s intelligence, it’s a skill that is important to master.
