"Hello! My name is Arlisa. I graduated from college in 1994 with a degree in Journalism with a special emphasis on Graphic Design.

I began working at a small print shop (production design and Graphic Design for local companies) in a college town in 1995. I broadened by horizons in 2001 and took a job at Texas A&M University, at first in their print shop and then later I was Creative Director of a group in a specific department within Texas A&M who worked directly with the Department of Homeland Security after 9/11. The team grew to at least 6-8 creative employees (graphic design, web design, technical writing, audio/video, etc.) and student workers. However, my children were very, very young and I traveled a lot with the job to Washington D.C. so I began devising a plan to go back to school to get my teaching certificate.

I completed that in 2007 through Blinn College in Brenham. My first certification was Early Childhood - 4th grade, English as a second language, Generalist. This means I can teach Pre-K-4th grade in any subject. I also hold certifications in 8-12 Technical Applications and 8-12 Journalism.

I taught elementary for 2 years, all subjects for one year, and 3rd-grade Math and Science. The high school in my district was losing its Technical Applications teacher, and she recommended me. I interviewed and got the job right away!

I have been teaching Illustrator for 15 years at the high school level and I have been mentoring/tutoring all ages for 30 years in Adobe products. I have taught everything from Graphic Design, Audio/Video Production, Digital Art & Animation, Web Design, Principles of Art, and Journalism (yearbook) at the high school level (9-12).

I have definitely found my calling. I LOVE teaching this age, and I LOVE my subject matter. I have tutored, mentored, and taught people from 12 years old to adults in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop in a classroom setting and one on one.
