My soft launch into teaching began in Middle School. As a part of the MathCounts team our school asked us to work with other students one-on-one as part of an after school activity. That first experience helped me realize how much joy it brought me to help other's feel empowered by their challenges.

In high school my journey continued. At first it was by helping friends and classmates with Algebra, Precalc and Calculus classes. Those roles then grew when I began my semifinalist/finalist National Merit Scholar journey. At the end of my high school career I was helping people go into their SAT exams to find success.

Through college I decided to keep the good times rolling. At that point I began tutoring in group settings, sharing my time with younger years in courses I had already traversed. More specifically, I tutored for courses such as Physics 1 with Calculus, Thermodynamics and Calculus 1.

Depending on what we are working toward and what the students' preferences are, I am flexible in my teaching style. For instance, SAT sessions focus largely on practice problems and testing practice. Alternatively, in a thermodynamic session, the focus is on concepts and mind mapping. In the later case explanations and metaphors are used to scaffold existing knowledge into a permanent understanding of new concepts.
