"I earned my Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree along with a Bachelor of Science, which means I’ve spent many years studying chemistry, biology, and how these subjects apply in real life, especially in healthcare and medicine. Organic chemistry is a subject I used heavily throughout my education, not just in classes but in understanding how drugs work and how molecules interact. Professionally, I have also held several roles within Fortune 500 pharmaceutical companies, which allows me to connect what students learn in class to real-world applications and careers. I think this helps students see *why* the material matters, not just what they need to memorize for an exam.
For the past two years, I’ve worked as an organic chemistry tutor, mainly helping college students and pre-health students who felt overwhelmed or behind. Many students come to me thinking they are “bad at chemistry,” and my goal is to change that mindset. I focus on teaching concepts in simple terms, breaking reactions and mechanisms into clear steps, and showing patterns so the material feels more logical and less intimidating. I use active learning techniques such as guided practice problems, drawing reaction pathways together, and asking students to explain ideas back in their own words so I know they truly understand.
Most of my tutoring has been one-on-one or in small groups, which lets me tailor each session to the student’s pace and learning style. I’ve worked with late high school students, undergraduates, and adult learners over extended periods of time, helping them prepare for exams, quizzes, and entire courses. I also teach study strategies, time management, and test-taking techniques so students can become more confident and independent learners. My combination of advanced education, real-world pharmaceutical experience, and student-focused teaching methods allows me to create a supportive, engaging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making real progress." less...
