"I graduated with a BA in Chemistry from Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) in 2017. I worked as a research assistant in the George Whitesides Research Group at Harvard University during the summers of 2016 and 2017. I earned a PhD in Chemistry (Medicinal Chemistry) in 2024 and am currently a 4th year dental student at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry. My PhD research focused on the synthesis and discovery of antibacterial agents for the prevention of dental caries. I aspire to become an orthodontist and be involved in research and teaching activities at a university.
I am very passionate about teaching. I have taught private violin and viola lessons for many years. Working as a Teaching Assistant for General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and College Algebra at WCSU has motivated me to pursue a career in dental education, where my goal is to become a faculty member at a dental school and provide research opportunities to students.
My philosophy:
We learn so we can share and give back.
We learn so we can understand the world.
We learn from being challenged.
We learn from our failures.
Policies:
I can be reached by phone or email (only once payment information has been provided) for any questions or a cancellation. However, I must be notified within 4 hours. I am also willing to make up any tutoring session for weather conditions/court/family emergency/sickness/religious events. If a session is cancelled without a valid excuse, or if it is skipped, there will be a penalty fee of half the hourly rate.
Approach:
If the parent and/or individual agrees, I will provide challenging homework assignments to complete based on the examples I provide. I will spend the time necessary every session to review prior homework and answer any questions before moving on to the next concept. I also ask for students to explain to me how they approached a problem. If they can do that and understand, then they have mastered the concept." less...
