"Hi, I'm Ixa! I'm currently a student at Duke University studying Computer Science and Neuroscience. I also work as a tutor for ARAC, an organization promoting literacy and math fundamentals for elementary and middle schoolers through one on one sessions. Throughout high school, I dual-enrolled in classes at a local community college and was a teaching assistant there for Trigonometry, Calculus I, and Calculus II. Being homeschooled, I had a lot of experience with self studying and finding the techniques that worked best for me, and I really enjoyed getting the opportunity to share those techniques with others who were struggling as I had. After developing a solid study regimen, I scored a 1560 on the SAT and received Schoolhouse training for SAT prep tutoring. Throughout all of these experiences, I realized the passion I had for teaching and the real beauty that comes from education. I love to be shown new things, proven wrong, and to learn--I hope that I can spark this excitement and passion for knowledge in others through my tutoring.
Outside of school, I love programming--specifically game development, which I program using C#. I love game development because it gives me the chance to express myself through art, music, shaders, gameplay, etc. all combined into one cohesive reflection of myself and my interests. My games have won local competitions as well as been featured in some indie festivals, which really excites me as I love knowing that my own art can connect with others and knowing that they can find some beauty in it as well. I don't have any formal experience tutoring game development or C#, but have endless passion for the subject and have spent dozens of hours showing friends and family the ins and outs of the process." less...
