"I have been teaching for 20 years in many different areas: dyslexia intervention, English, special education reading and math, Computer Science, and Spanish. I am currently a school counselor and also direct the dyslexia program at my school. I have done dyslexia intervention with students in elementary school as well as in high school. I really love working with people with dyslexia because of the joy I see when they realize they are learning to read much more effectively. Reading is the single most important skill to do well in elementary and secondary education, and it hurts my heart to see my high school students struggle to read.

I have lived in Van Buren for 15 years, Iam married, I have three kids, two dogs, and a cat. I love to garden, read fantasy novels, and find creative ways to teach difficult content.

I taught these skills to middle school students for four years after creating the entire curriculum. I use these programs daily!

I have been trained in both the Barton method of reading and spelling and the Apple Group's Connections OGin3D. I am a trained assessor in the science of reading. I started working with kids with dyslexia since 2016, and am now responsible for hiring and training dyslexia interventionists for my school district.
