"I'm Dr. Alycia C, CCC-SLP, a speech-language pathologist with extensive knowledge and expertise in tutoring language and literacy challenges. I earned my Ph.D. in Language and Communicative Disorders from the University of California, San Diego, and San Diego State University (2009) and my B.A. in Psychology from Stanford University (2000), focusing on human development.

My professional background spans over 15 years and focuses on understanding the development of speech, language, and literacy skills. I currently serve as an Associate Professor at Idaho State University, where I teach undergraduate and graduate courses in phonological development and speech sound acquisition.

In my private practice, I provide individualized academic support for children with literacy challenges, including reading and spelling difficulties associated with dyslexia. To strengthen my tutoring skills, I have pursued specialized training in structured literacy approaches. I recently completed the 60-hour Orton-Gillingham (OG) Associate Training and am currently completing a 100-hour supervised OG practicum, aiming to become an Associate OG Practitioner by late 2025.

I primarily tutor children between the ages of 4 and 10, using evidence-based, structured methods tailored to each learner’s needs. My approach integrates strong foundational language and literacy strategies to support children in developing their reading, spelling, and academic communication skills. I also welcome opportunities to work with older students who need specialized support." less...
