"I recently retired from teaching after 16 wonderful years in the Clark County School District and then teaching in Taiwan for 16 months. My passion for teaching students is still as strong as the first day I walked into the classroom. I taught 4th grade for the first 2 years of my career and then taught 13 years of 3rd grade. I considered myself to be very professional, responsible, and a man with integrity who always put the individual needs of his students first. I continually modeled my joy for learning and fostered relationships between all classmates to use our individual differences as strengths. I feel strongly about developing a great rapport with every student and taking an interest in their life.

My experience comes mostly in Elementary school subjects and my favorite subject to teach is Math. I love the challenge of taking a new student and observing the way they learn, so I can use the best methods to teach them. I love playing with numbers and my enthusiasm will spread to my students. It is so satisfying when you see the hard work pay off and the "lightbulb" goes on in their head. Writing is another area I love to teach creative skills. Of course, I love to teach reading comprehension and fluency. I consider myself to be an expert in using higher-level learning skills like inferencing and proven questioning strategies to dig deeply into the meaning of a book.

Map reading and Geography are more of my passions and I'd certainly love to teach some American History!
