"Hi, I'm Kristen! I graduated cum laude from the University of South Carolina with a B.S. in Finance, and I’ve logged more than 3,000 hours tutoring in Economics, Finance, and AP Lit. In my early Micro- and Macroeconomics courses, I picked up the material quickly and tested out of the final, completing the class early. After seeing students struggle, I began helping classmates, starting with members of our football team. I realized I had a real ability to make complex concepts feel clear and intuitive.

My teaching approach is laid back but highly effective. I’m straightforward, and focus on helping students take interest in the material. A big part of tutoring is knowing how to hold a students attention, especially in subjects they don't find interesting (and lets face it, Econ isn't exactly everyone's favorite class). Economics is highly theoretical, and many students struggle not because the material is impossible, but because it feels abstract and disconnected. I focus on making concepts feel logical by using contemporary explanations and examples students can relate to.

I’ve also worked closely with students on competitive college application strategy, and advanced research and internship projects involving machine learning and AI, ranging from automated systems with full front- and back-end development to investor-ready pitch decks and UI-integrated platforms.

I tailor my teaching approach to each student's learning preferences, and I do everything I can to make learning both enjoyable and engaging.
