"I am an Economics professor, with a PhD in economics, and Master's Degree focus in applied microeconomics and statistics. I also received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army after serving on active duty. I have over 10 years of teaching and tutoring experience for ages 6 thru college level, including adult learners. Additionally, as a graduate student, I have experience teaching undergraduate college students and adult learners in the traditional classroom setting and one-on-one instruction.
I am experienced in teaching learners with different social and learning needs, such as ADHD, autism, and dyslexia. My academic experience has been both applied and theoretical and I have had opportunities to teach wonderful students that do not learn in the traditional way, using visual and auditory reinforcement, and outside-of-the-box ways of thinking about problems, rather than getting lost in equations and being overwhelmed with facts.
My life is not all school and work. In college, I was an NCAA D1 track athlete, and I have been a musician for my entire life. I started playing music on my first instrument, the viola, 25 years ago, and also play the violin and tenor saxophone. I enjoy getting outside and experience a full and well-rounded life, which has been bountiful as I have lived all over the United States, from NY to Alaska.
I enjoy tutoring because I love education. I am passionate about helping others succeed and realize the immense value an education can have, at all levels. I started off teaching inner-city youth to help them see a bitter future for themselves and now, I want to use this platform to bring that to people in my community and across the country. I use flexible learning methods for students that do not do well with traditional instruction, or students who may have been away from school for a while, recognizing that not everyone learns the same way or at the same pace." less...
