"I have over 35 years of experience working with children and adolescents that have special needs including learning disabilities and mental health issues. I have worked as a mental health counselor and recreation therapist in a variety of settings including in-home tutoring, alternative schools, in-patient psychiatric hospitals, mental health day treatment, residential treatment centers, and in public elementary and high schools. I am currently working as a mental health counselor in an elementary school with students in grades K-5. I have a BS in Psychology / Elementary Education (N-6) and an MA in Therapeutic Recreation.

I believe that a student based tutoring style is most effective. This style focuses on the strengths of the individual rather than their deficits . I also believe each student has a way in which they learn best. The key to success is helping the individual find what is best for them. Further, I use humor in teaching.
