"My language journey began in infancy, as my parents are from Brazil. Growing up in a bilingual home where literacy and education were highly valued planted a seed that would grow into a lifelong passion for learning and teaching. Over the past 25 years, I have studied Portuguese, French, Spanish, Italian, Korean, and Arabic. Each new language that I endeavor to learn further strengthens my passion and instructional practice. I am excited to share my love of languages with you, and I am confident that with my methods, enthusiasm, and experience, and your commitment to work hard, we can achieve your language learning goals.

I received my undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley, including a minor in Italian and one year in Italy studying at the Università degli Studi di Padova. I received a Master of Arts in Teaching combined with a California teaching credential for all Social Science subjects for secondary grades (6-12) at the University of Southern California, including a Bilingual Authorization in Spanish. I was a high school history teacher in Oakland, CA for six years, specializing in recently-arrived immigrant and refugee students who were English learners. During that time I had the honor to be nominated and selected as one of four finalists for the NBC Sports Bay Area All-Star Teacher Award in 2021.

In 2021 I transitioned out of public school and into online tutoring. I have worked with students ranging in ages from thirteen to eighty! I work with each student to create a personalized learning plan based on their goals, needs, current level, and time capacity. I create lessons from scratch or work with materials that students are already using. One of my strengths is starting from the basics and gradually increasing the difficulty level as the student masters each topic. I strive to foster a focused and affirming learning environment.
