"I knew when I was in fourth grade that I wanted to be a teacher. I was fortunate to have had the best fourth grade English teacher who was compassionate, caring and patient. She inspired me to pursue a teaching career. While doing my student teaching in California, I worked with two master teachers in fourth through sixth grade that I modeled after, and I believed this was my calling and passion. I am certified in teaching K-6th grade and certified in Gifted and Talented. I have taught third through seventh grade for the past thirty-three years. I worked in the public school system for twenty-five years and had the opportunity to experience and be involved in two brand new school openings which was very exciting. One being an elementary school where I served as a fourth grade team leader and the other a middle school where I served as a sixth grade team leader. I have continued my journey and passion by working in private school settings for the last ten years. I have also spent a great deal of time in the summers and during the school year tutoring students and watching them flourish. I aspire to grow, learn, experience and continue to teach and work with students on my professional journey.
I have taught all subjects in second grade through sixth although, my passion is with reading, writing and grammar. I currently teach writing and grammar in sixth grade at a private school. I have helped students prepare for their ERB's and testing in general. I enjoy seeing the growth in the children I tutor.
I have also worked with ESL (English as a second language) students to help them master the Star testing, tests in their subjects, and becoming more proficient in the English language.

I enjoy using manipulatives, hands on activities to help the students see the whole picture, whether they are studying fractions, telling time, or learning about geometric shapes. I taught thir" less...
