"I was a Lecturer at Stanford University from 2019 to 2022, I now work as a researcher and writer in Washington, D.C. Thanks to my teaching skills, I became the only teacher awarded a Dean's Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow two years in a row.
I am a former Lecturer at Stanford University (2019–2022) and now work as a researcher and writer in Washington, D.C. I completed my PhD in Classics (Latin and Ancient History) at Stanford after earlier study at UCLA and at University College Dublin, where I earned both my BA and MA. During my time at Stanford, my teaching was formally recognized when I was the first fellow awarded a Dean’s Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship in two consecutive years. Teaching has always been central to my professional life, and I bring the same seriousness to tutoring that I brought to the classroom at one of the world’s top universities.
I have tutored continuously since 2008 at the university, high school, and middle school levels, working with large classes, small groups, and one-on-one students. My students have come from the United States, Europe, China, India, and Latin America, and they arrive with very different goals and levels of preparation. Some want top exam results, others want confidence, discipline, and real mastery of the material. My approach is structured, traditional, and practical. I expect careful attention to fundamentals and steady progress week by week. I reward effort and I make sure students understand why the work matters. Learning Latin, history, and the humanities well builds habits of precision and judgment that last far beyond a single course, and I take real pride in helping students acquire those habits and succeed." less...
