My name is Frank. I currently have a B.S. in mathematics from Elmhurst College and a M.S. in applied statistics from DePaul University. I became a tutor because I enjoy helping students and watching them succeed. While I was obtaining my bachelor's degree, I tutored students in algebra, calculus and statistics in the learning center. Tutoring has taught me how to explain topics to different types of students. I too have faced many challenges in my undergraduate coursework, so I understand the feeling of inadequacy.

In addition, I help students by teaching them steps to solve a problem one at a time, so they aren't overwhelmed. One time I had a student who was so frustrated that he just gave up and left the learning center. I went to go look for him because I felt bad he wasn't understanding the material. I then told him that he is a very smart kid and will pass his class. He then gave me a smile and said I'm ready. We then walked back to the learning center.
