"I believe writing can certainly be daunting, but it doesn’t have to feel impossible.

I earned my BA in English with a concentration in writing from the University of South Carolina, Beaufort. After working as an Academic Writing Coach at the college level for over 4 years, I transferred over to Adult Education where I get to work with some amazing people.

I currently volunteer as an Academic Coach with an Edtech nonprofit, which provides tutoring to low income students grades 6-12 that would otherwise not have access to 1-on-1 tutoring, which is just awesome! I spend a lot of my own time writing and researching, keeping up with latest changes in style guides and language in general, and I truly love my job. I’m comfortable working with any age group, (but I’ve found I have a way with those brave hearts taking the leap into continuing education or into Adult Ed—you know who you are). So whether you’re a middle or high school student needing a little extra help, a college student aiming to do your best, or a “worked hard all your life” fellow human transitioning into something new, I got you.

My style and approach varies widely based on the student and his-her-their own specific needs. I believe it’s important to pay attention to learning styles, and teaching 1-on-1 allows us as educators to do exactly that! I aim to provide predictability and structure, but I also know from experience that things don’t always work within the lines, especially when we need them to. I take time to get to know my students, and I'm very transparent about policies, scheduling, cost, etc. I also think it's important students play an active role in his/her/their own education, so if you need multiple sessions, we'll figure out the best plan for you as an individual, but we'll do it together.
