Why do you need tutoring?

Mr. Alan-Michael V.

specializes in Electrical Engineer in Aerospace, Strong Math/Physics Foundation · male

"I've been teaching and tutoring people for 15+ years. After entering college at 16, I initially started by helping out friends and classmates because I find it interesting that anyone is able to fully understand a concept if it's explained in just the right way. I've also helped peers in college and graduate school, and now I tutor some coworkers that are working on obtaining their master degrees.

After entering college at 16, I initially started by helping out friends and classmates because I find it interesting that anyone is able to fully understand a concept if it's explained in just the right way. I've also helped peers in college and graduate school, and now I tutor some coworkers that are working on obtaining their master degrees.

I love that tutoring gives me a chance to see someone else's understanding on my favorite subjects, but mostly it intrigues me to be able to use their perspective to help me further understand how people learn by noting patterns and common holes in understanding. This helps me become a better teacher for people in the future, so it teaches me something too.

I have an MS in Electrical Engineering and a BS in Physics with a minor in Mathematics, and I would love to share my intuitive perspective of the deep mathematical and physical underpinnings of these subjects. I have multiple perspectives on the workings of all math from number theory and algebra up through multi-variable complex calculus, and every aspect of physics from mechanics to quantum mechanics.

I also have 3 years of experience working in the aerospace industry educating everyone from executives to new hires on the latest technical challenges and their exciting solutions.

Current areas of interest and research for me include plasma physics, neural networks/AI, meta-materials, and sensors/signal processing.

I'd love to show this world to you and figure out how to make it most accessible to you.

Seeing the many shortcomings in formal math education has always been frustrating, and it's in large part to do with the fact that different people learn in different ways, and in a classroom one size must (but doesn't) fit all. That's why I will focus on diagnosing your individual understanding of a topic, and not just the specific topic, but each layer that is necessary to build up to it. By finding the holes the education system has left in your" less...
