"Hi! I’m Anna. I graduated from Montclair State University with my Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education and then returned for my Master's degree in Education. I have also taken additional online classes and currently participate in online groups which focus on math.

I currently teach fourth grade. In teaching math, I see that many students may be intimated by the concepts. Being a math teacher has helped me to understand how the concepts are related and build on one another.

I will meet your child where they are to help them build an understanding of math. I know many students use formulas or shortcuts to solve for answers but may not understand the meaning of why these strategies worked. I like to help them build an overall understanding and solid foundation which will help them continue to grow as they explore more complex math ideas.

I really like to begin by introducing a new concept with the use of manipulatives. Once you can use manipulatives to represent the math, then we will move to modeling by drawing, and then work towards using equations to solve the problems. I have found that many students are more successful by moving through all 3 stages.
