When I was a junior and senior in high school, I took a job as a tennis instructor during the summer months and worked with children aged 5 to 12 years old. It was an amazing, fun experience that gave me the wonderful opportunity to work with children. I knew that I enjoyed teaching after taking that job. During the summer of 2013, I was living in Klamath Falls, Oregon. It was during that time that I decided to work at a church-run organization that worked with children ages 4 to 11 on homework, followed by fun activities. I met with kids twice a week for a few hours, and I had a blast! The kids were amazing, and I really enjoyed reading with them and teaching them basic arithmetic.

I also volunteered at a pediatric therapy center in Klamath Falls. I was assistant to a cognitive therapist that worked there, and participated in teaching children with mental disabilities how to read and write. It was a wonderful experience that I treasure to this day.

These experiences have really given me a firm understanding of my joy in teaching. I think education is one of the most precious gifts someone can receive, and I relish of passing knowledge down to others.
