"Hi! I’m Diamond. I am a student at Bowling Green State University majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders. I’m passionate about working with children and helping them build confidence with language and learning in a supportive, patient, and encouraging way.

I tutor elementary (K–6) students in phonics, reading, spelling, vocabulary, and writing. I’m especially interested in how kids learn sound and spelling patterns and how consistent practice can lead to big progress over time.

Experience with children: I worked in a daycare/preschool (ages 3–5) for about two years as an assistant teacher, supporting early learning through routines and hands-on activities (circle time, letter recognition, shapes/colors, and uppercase vs. lowercase letters). I also have one-on-one experience supporting my younger brother (elementary age) with reading comprehension, spelling, and homework, which strengthened my ability to explain skills in different ways and build confidence without pressure.

My tutoring approach: I start with a quick, low-pressure check to see what’s hardest and set a clear goal. I teach step-by-step (model → practice together → independent try). For phonics/spelling, I focus on patterns instead of memorizing random lists. For reading, I build fluency and comprehension using short passages, retelling, and question strategies. For writing, I build structure from sentence → paragraph using simple organizers and an editing checklist. I keep sessions calm, use repetition when needed, offer small choices, and share quick parent updates on progress.
