"I'm Allison! I hold a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and am in my 5th year of teaching. I have taught all subjects in 3rd grade and am currently teaching ELA in 5th grade. I love to teach reading, writing, and phonics. I also enjoy teaching lower-level math (K-3). I have participated in after-school tutoring at my school in reading and math for two years.

My goal is to always make learning fun! If I can create a learning game to play, I will do it! I've found that students learn best when they are enjoying themselves, which is always my goal. I pride myself on being able to build relationships with my students. As the great Rita Pierson said, "Students don't learn from someone they don't like." I think that applies whether you're teaching reading and math in a classroom setting or a one-on-one tutoring session.

My favorite part about teaching and tutoring is seeing that "lightbulb" moment when a student who has been struggling is successful. The joy and pride on their faces is something you just can't beat!
