"Hi there! I am an elementary teacher in Brighton. My job title is mild/moderate needs special education teacher and interventionist. I work with students with and without disabilities that just need some extra support to be successful with the general education curriculum. I earned my BA in Special Education:Generalist at the University of Northern Colorado and have my professional teaching license which certifies me to work with students from kindergarten through age 21. I am also halfway through my masters degree as an Intervention Specialist.

I have taken classes specializing in math and literacy methods, as well as passed the Elementary Education content PRAXIS and Special Education Generalist PLACE tests. I have taught in various elementary classrooms and a in middle school teaching literacy and math intervention. I have received specialized instruction in teaching literacy methods, as well as in several literacy and math interventions. I am a Yoshimoto Orton Gillingham Certified therapist. The Yoshimoto OG methodology is a systematic phonics intervention that teaches students how to read, and is successful for students with learning disabilities such as dyslexia.

I will give diagnostic testing to your student to determine their exact needs just like I would any student I work with in my school. I will use this data to determine an appropriate intervention and will create lesson plans based on this information. I will share the data with you so we can celebrate your student's growth together.
