"Hi, I'm Ross! I hold a BA in Philosophy (3.8 GPA) and MA in Romance Languages (3.9 GPA). When I was at college I started a free Spanish class for adult learners and realized that I had a passion for teaching languages. I was awarded the "Excellence in Teaching Award" from my local city council for the work I did with that class because it helped connect the English and Spanish speaking communities. Helping the students go from not being able to introduce themselves in Spanish to being able to explain complex topics was so amazing! I knew immediately that this was something that I wanted to dedicate myself to so I decided to study Romance Languages deeply (they are called Romance languages because they come from Latin, the language of the Roman empire, not because they're romantic!). I did a master's degree and then traveled the world living and working as an interpreter in Mexico, Italy and Portugal. Now I speak 5 languages: English, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese!

In the ten years that I've worked as a private language coach I've helped adults from all walks of life become fluent through a methodology that I developed during my academic studies and while I was studying languages myself. Due to my certification in Legal/Medical interpretation and my work as an interpreter I have helped many legal and medical professionals reach their objectives with languages.

My method is to adapt my teaching to the student's learning style and then focus on motivating the student to push their limits in the language. Learning a language is something that any person can do, they only need to be dedicated and consistent in their study routine. And that is exactly what I do as a tutor, motivate the student, give clear explanations for doubts and confusion, and help get rid of any anxiety the student may feel with the language learning process.
