"Hello! My name is Jennifer, and I have a degree in Math with a focus on education. I can tutor a variety of subjects from basic elementary math to calculus, basic natural sciences to upper division chemistry. I started out majoring Chemistry at Harvey Mudd College where I was taught not only a wide breadth of subjects in math as science and a more in depth knowledge of chemistry but most significantly that being able to communicate our work is just as important as the work itself.

I find this approach is especially helpful in math and science. Many people have anxiety with these subjects because society has portrayed these subjects as difficult and only for the really academic types. I think that this not true, that with a lot of time, patience, and empathy, math and science can be not only accessible to all, but it can be fun. They are puzzles that we can unravel together.

Particularly, most of my experience has been working with students who are non-traditional in some way. I am experience with working with students with learning disabilities, returning to school after years of not attending to change career paths later in life, students where the traditional education system has failed them, or a combination of those. As a person who struggles with ADHD, dyslexia, and dysgraphia as well as experience all different types of schools from attending them to working in them, I have an understanding on a level that a lot of educators may not have." less...
