"With 19 years of experience coaching high school artists in the classroom, including 15 years teaching AP Studio Art and AP Art History, I am dedicated to helping students unlock their full creative potential. My passion is guiding each student to find their unique artistic voice by meeting them exactly where they are. I believe in celebrating individual differences, helping students explore their interests, and building a strong foundation of methodology and technique from there. As a lifelong working artist, I am constantly studying art, both old and new, traditional and contemporary, across all mediums. This practice keeps my eye trained and my teaching tuned into the pulse of art from the past and the present. My proficiency spans all 2D mediums, including painting, drawing, traditional and digital photography, collage, and much more, as well as 3D mediums. Over the years, I have proudly helped students gain admission to prestigious institutions like the Savannah College of Art and Design and the Kansas City Art Institute. My students have also achieved notable success, including winning Gold Keys in Scholastic Art and Writing and being recognized by YoungArts. I have also served on advisory boards for arts programs including Quartz Mountain Arts Institute. I understand the crucial role a teacher plays in guiding and supporting a creative journey, and I am committed to making that difference for every student." less...
