"As a senior at the University of Oklahoma majoring in Vocal Music Education, I have spent the last several years studying both the art of music and the science of how students learn. My coursework has included music theory, ear training, vocal pedagogy, and education classes centered on curriculum design, differentiation, and inclusive teaching practices. I’ve also completed field experiences in both elementary and secondary schools, where I taught students with diverse backgrounds and learning needs. These opportunities have helped me develop the flexibility and creativity required to meet each student where they are.
In addition, I have previously been a math tutor and have taught early elementary mathematics, geometry, and algebra.
I have worked with students ranging from kindergarten through high school in a variety of settings, including classroom instruction, one-on-one tutoring, and small group rehearsals. In these roles, I’ve used multisensory methods, visual aids, games, and movement-based learning to make music and academics more accessible and engaging. For students with disabilities or those who struggle with traditional approaches, I’m comfortable adapting my strategies to ensure everyone feels successful. Whether I'm helping a student prepare for a music audition or supporting foundational reading or writing skills, I believe in building confidence first—then skill.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in patience, encouragement, and clarity. I believe that students learn best when they feel safe, seen, and supported, and I make it my mission to create that environment in every session. I look forward to helping your student grow academically and creatively while making the learning process enjoyable and effective." less...
