I have a Ph.D. in molecular biophysics from Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida, and a B.S. in chemistry and biology from the University of Miami, Florida.

In the past, I was a biology teacher at Jesuit High School, a special education inclusion teacher at West Jefferson High School for over five years in science and math courses, and a High School Math teacher at Ursuline Academy of New Orleans, teaching pre-algebra, algebra, and algebra honors.

Related Work Experience

From 1995-2008, I was an assistant professor in the Department of Biology at Xavier University of Louisiana, New Orleans. During my thirteen years at Xavier, I taught Anatomy, Physiology, Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy, Introduction to Scientific Literature, Histology Laboratory, and Biology. The Biology Laboratory course had a vocabulary-building component.

Tutoring Experience

Since I began tutoring with WyzAnt in May 2010, I have tutored preschool, elementary, high school, college, graduate, professional, and homeschool students. Whether the need is for reading comprehension, elementary math, pre-algebra, algebra, biology, chemistry, study skills, or other specific subjects, I tailor each lesson to fit a student's learning style. Learning should be fun. All of my students and I managed to have fun.

I also tutor students in preparation for standardized tests. In graduate school, I taught for The Princeton Review. They excel in teaching the content AND the test-taking strategies to score the most points. I use my experience as a Princeton Review instructor to tutor students for the ACT, ASVAB, DAT, HiSet, PCAT, PRAXIS (Biology), SAT, SSAT, TABE, and TEAS.
