"Tutoring has been a passion of mine since I was in elementary school. I love learning and bringing the joy of learning to my friends, family and students. Building relationships as we explore new topics with awe and wonder is a source of joy and fulfillment. Each child is unique and brings a different approach to the topics being learned. My tutoring is very individualized depending on the student's needs and goals. Some students what to know how to apply the material to real world problems, some want to understand the history of the topic, some want to push their limits and try very complex problems in the topic, and others want to break it down into clear and digestible pieces. I am happy to provide all of these while striving to build a fun, comfortable and interesting environment for learning.
With a bachelors in biochemistry from the University of Denver including minors in Spanish, medical physics, biology and leadership studies, as well as a masters in education from the Catholic University of America with a concentration in secondary mathematics, I am certified to teach secondary mathematics and science (biology, chemistry, and physics) and have experience tutoring in undergraduate science courses. I have taught in a standard high school setting for several years while tutoring in mathematics and science. Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2 are the subjects in which I have the most experience, but I would feel comfortable tutoring math students from elementary math through calculus.
I am eager to help students achieve their goals and love learning from my students and their parents. Feedback, suggestions, and sharing new resources are always welcome so that I too can learn and grow! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to set up a lesson. My students are a top priority and I will get back to you as soon as possible!" less...
