"Hello!

My educational journey has been far from traditional. At times, I wondered if I fit into the expected model. But through these experiences I learned to empathize with students, thinking of my own ideas for how to best reach common ground with all kinds of people.

I’ve been a business writer, a legal writer, a sports journalist with experience writing for a major medical journal, have helped write state law for the West Virginia legislative body, have trained employees and written a wide range of company manuals, but my passion in writing is creative story telling. I feel as if my wide range of writing skills can assist students in gaining a solid base from which to better read, write, and most importantly, think!

My background in history is also extensive. I spent much of my youth traveling the nations historical sites. This led to a deep passion which I pursue at a wonderful school, Michigan State University. History is less about dates and names, and more about a way to think, a way to learn, and a way to consider how to best empathize with those who not only came before us, but those with us today.
