"Hello! As someone who loves the English language and helping students thrive, I can offer extensive experience to help you with your English skills. I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher, and it's one of the best decisions that I ever made. I have a bachelor's degree in English from Lyon College and a master's degree from UCA. However, it is years of teaching and helping students grow that make me the most proud. I earned National Board certification - the highest recognition that a teacher can receive- which helped me grow into a more reflective teacher. I use effective practices, along with patience and a little humor, to boost student confidence and achievement.

I've had the privilege of teaching English to 7th graders through seniors as well as Composition I and II to college freshmen. I can be most beneficial in the areas of close reading, writing, and the ACT. To aid with reading, I can help students with skills like summarizing, finding the main idea, or understanding a work of literature. To help with writing, I assist students in organizing and elevating their essays, from Romeo and Juliet essays to college entrance exams. I also have experience in proofreading research papers and college history and English essays. To increase ACT scores, I will target a student’s strengths and weaknesses to improve grammar and reading skills. I have taught ACT classes for years, and my students consistently improve, some by as many as six points. I do my best to meet students where they are so that I can help them make gains.
