"Hello, I’m Naomi! I recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from USC with an English and Creative Writing degree as well as a minor in Screenwriting. I have over three years of experience tutoring reading, writing, study skills, and essay structure. Additionally, I have experience in classroom instruction, lesson planning, course design, and literacy assessment. I enjoy sharing my love for writing and storytelling with students to help them succeed and find their own enjoyment of English.

Over the past three years, I have tutored 30+ students from ages 5 to 18, many of whom I’ve worked with for several years.

When approaching writing projects, I work with students to brainstorm and outline their papers on literature, speeches, social studies, and more. I also often help with college application essays. We often start with a conversation so I can get to know who they are and what they hope to accomplish, as well as their writing goals and concerns. Then, we can establish an outline based on the assignment requirements and the student’s own ideas. It’s important to me that each student feels confident leaving our sessions and writing the paper on their own with the structure we work out together. I also help students with revisions after their paper is written so their final paper is polished and complete.

With elementary and middle school level skills such as writing, reading, vocabulary, and study skills/organization, I use a similar approach. Beginning with a conversation to establish where the student needs support and assistance, we can begin to create realistic goals to approach their assignments. I enjoy finding fun and engaging ways to teach and review the material with the students I tutor while prioritizing their confidence and improvement towards our goals.
