"I am a certified educator with a strong background in reading instruction, literacy support, and differentiated learning strategies. I hold a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education from Emory University, a Master of Science in Library Media from Georgia State University and an Educational Specialist Degree in Technology in Education from Lesley University. I am also a certified School Library Media Specialist and Reading Specialist who has served in public schools in both Georgia and Maryland.
Over the past 30 years, I have worked with students in grades K–8 in various capacities, including as a classroom teacher, reading interventionist, and library media specialist. I have provided one-on-one support to struggling readers, helped students with IEPs and 504 plans build confidence, and coached students through writing projects and research assignments. My experience spans both classroom and individualized instruction, including pull-out sessions, small group interventions, and after-school tutoring. I use a combination of phonics-based instruction, guided reading strategies, and engaging, student-centered techniques to support literacy development. My focus is always on meeting the unique needs of each learner and building a solid foundation for academic success.
Students thrive when instruction is personalized, paced to their comfort level, and delivered with patience and encouragement. My goal is to help each student develop confidence in their abilities while strengthening their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. Whether a student needs help catching up, staying on track, or pushing ahead, I create a supportive environment that fosters growth, independence, and a love of learning." less...
