"I am a software engineer with 30 years of experience in the field. I also have an electrical engineering degree. I take very seriously helping the next generation of engineers and STEM students succeed. I have co-taught AP computer science at the high school level, and as a senior engineer I mentor entry level engineers all the time as they start on their career paths. I am also certified with Security+ which is an industry recognized standard of cybersecurity knowledge. This is a very important topic in today's world and a good career path as well, so I am qualified to tutor on this topic.

My approach to tutoring is tailored to the individual student. I recognize that there are different types of learners and adjust my approach accordingly. My goal is for the student to understand the subject, not simply memorize. I do this through example, explanation, and analogy. I like to start small and build up to complex ideas. This will give the student confidence as they develop the building blocks to use to address complex topics.

As my engineering work requires a lot of math I also feel confident tutoring pre-calculus where I take the same approach as computer science.

For computer science I professionally work with Python, Java, and C++. I can also help out with Linux or basic computer skills as well.
