"I am an undergraduate student at JMU studying engineering with a minor in music, and I enjoy bringing both analytical and creative skills into my tutoring. My background in engineering has given me strong problem-solving abilities, while my music studies have taught me patience, discipline, and how to explain concepts in clear, approachable ways.
I began teaching through private music lessons, primarily on flute but also on tenor saxophone and other instruments. That experience showed me the importance of adapting to each student’s learning style and encouraging steady progress. I have also tutored math and writing for several years, working with students from middle school through college. In every subject, I focus on breaking down challenging material and building confidence step by step.
My goal as a tutor is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes. I want them to not only understand the material but also feel capable of applying what they’ve learned on their own. Seeing students grow in both skill and confidence is the most rewarding part of teaching for me, and I look forward to helping more learners reach their goals." less...
