"I have passion for helping others and to teaching people new things. Over this past summer, I tutored an elementary aged girl from Korea whose first language was not English. I helped her with her reading and writing as well as her grammar and vocabulary skills. I was strict but kind at the same time when it was appropriate. What I loved about it was bringing a smile to her face when she finally understood how something worked or when she completed her assignments and did well. When I moved, she didn't want me to leave. I left her with the confidence of knowing she is capable of doing great things in school and that's the joy and connection I want to have with all my students.

I also tutored a young boy learning the clarinet. I would play with him in order to help him see how he was supposed to use his hands and to hear how notes should sound. I would also have him play by himself and ask him to repeat and do things over to help with muscle memory. I was a little more strict with him because music is not easy to learn and requires a lot of practice and cooperation and time to be successful with it. He progressed well and really enjoyed our lessons. I want all the students I teach to have fun and to develop a love of learning and sense of accomplishment and confidence.

I am certified in TEFL teaching as of January 6th, 2017. I took a 120 hour course that consisted of EFL classroom management and teaching skills. Some of the things I learned were testing, lesson planning, placements, media & technology, as well as grammar and other language components.

I have been playing the clarinet for 8 years. I also played for one year at a college level.

I am currently working on a degree in Creative Writing and English with a concentration in Poetry. I have a very flexible schedule and am willing drive the distance to help you.
