"My philosophy centers on the belief that students deserve a learning experience that not only gives them the confidence that comes by knowing and being able to apply the “rules” of English grammar and writing, but also an experience that ties into their individuality and unique needs. Introducing writing into each student’s own world is, in my opinion, the best way to ignite the spark that makes students see writing as a meaningful and life-enriching activity.

Besides teaching English Composition at a local college, I am a freelance technical writer who, for 30 years prior to retirement, managed communications teams for several computer software companies. I believe that my past and current experience as a writer helps me anticipate and understand the real-world communication challenges my students will face in their classes and in their working lives.
