"I think the relationship with the student is of primary importance. Creativity and patience are needed on the part of the teacher. I try to treat each student as an individual with specific needs and interests that we can build on. I like to use YouTube and other online sources to connect with students, and provide a variety of resources for each student's needs. I have considerable experience teaching English writing and literature at the undergraduate college level, and teaching professionals who want a higher level of English. I also have experience teaching ESL; the majority of my students are not native English speakers. I have also taught in Egypt, Lebanon and Morocco.
Most importantly, I think learning about language and literature should be fun, with a goal for lifelong curiosity. Most of my students are adults. I prefer not to tutor people for tests, such as the SAT or TOEFL, but to coach them in the English they most need." less...
