"Hello! My name is Adham; I am currently a second-year undergraduate student majoring in English/professional writing, minoring in philosophy, and participating in my university's accelerated pre-law program. I am preparing for my third [and final] year of undergraduate school as I will be taking my LSAT and applying to law school in the coming fall. While I am not a teacher, I have had at least three years of experience aiding students with their academic endeavors, including how to understand assignments, set interpersonal goals, think critically, break down and analyze material(s), structure valid and sound arguments, and more. I scored a 30 on my ACT with a 32 in the English section and a 30 in the reading section. My skills have also allowed me to earn a full-ride scholarship at my university, start and lead several organizations, and earn accolades for my academic performance.
My experience in an English and philosophy background has taught me how to do these well and has also aided me in establishing myself as a writing consultant at my university, where I assist students with their writing/critical thinking processes. Students that I have taught range from 16 to 22 years of age, though my primary student population is university students. Typically, I will tutor in one-on-one or small-group settings, though I have led a handful of class lectures during my university career. I am comfortable tutoring in all of the aforementioned settings. My tutoring approach is rather simple. I will ask my student to lay out what it is that we need to work on, where they are facing difficulty, and what their goals are. I believe that these three elements are key to assisting students with their growth. In fact, in my implementation of this system, I aim to teach my students how to do this for themselves so that they can establish and refine their own processes." less...
