My name is Toni (she/they). I am a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) student at San José State University (SJSU) and an alum of the English Literature program at CUNY Herbert H. Lehman College.

I hold a Level I Certification in College Reading and Writing Tutoring, earned through the 2020 College Reading and Learning Association Conference (CRLA), where I focused on culturally responsive and technology-integrated tutoring strategies in a Covid world. In addition, I hold a Level I NYSED Teaching Assistant Certification- soon to be a Level II within the coming weeks.

With over three years of experience as a peer mentor and writing tutor, I’ve worked with college students across a wide range of academic disciplines. My approach centers on diversified pedagogy, inquiry-based learning, and pattern recognition to foster independent learning.Our sessions might consist of: Outlining academic research strategies, effectively using online library databases, and scaffolding learning materials to strengthen literacy skills. While we will proofread assignments, this will always support our broader goal of building your confidence and competence in writing and research for future success.
