"I hold a PhD in organic chemistry, and am currently a professor of organic and general chemistry in Southern California. I did not always want to be a chemist, and changed my major several times as an undergraduate student. But my chemistry career has led me to work alongside some incredible researchers at UIUC, in Europe, and at Stanford University. I've completed total synthesis of natural products, and helped MD/PhDs doing drug discovery. I not only have expertise in teaching chemistry and organic chemistry, but also understand a diverse array of possible career paths. I can help prepare you for the upcoming exam but also: how does chemistry fit into the bigger picture for you?

As a professor myself, I know each topic you will encounter, and enjoy teaching all of them. I especially enjoy being able to connect with students in a 1 on 1 environment, where teaching can bear the most fruit. Perhaps you would benefit from seeing the material explained in a different way. Perhaps you want custom-made practice problems to get some extra repetitions in before the big test. I can anticipate the types of questions you might get asked and can make sure you are as prepared for the unexpected. I emphasize understanding over memorization.

All learning requires discipline, and ultimately your success will depend on what happens outside of the classroom or tutoring session. Difficult chemistry classes are an opportunity to work on your skills of time management, study habits, and self-accountability that will translate into challenges you face throughout your career.
