"Hello and Ni Hao, I'm Shawn and I've been an active coach, teacher, and tutor since 1996. My B.A is from the University of Colorado at Boulder, I have a master’s in International Affairs from Washington University in Saint Louis, and I’m fluent in Mandarin Chinese. I’ve led the creation of more than 200 courses (80% adult education and 20% university education) and have several thousand hours of teaching and tutoring experience.

I support three age groups as a tutor: High School Students, University Students, and Adult Learners. I support all these learners with ESL, basic Mandarin Chinese, writing, and test preparation (has included in the past general test prep, ACT, SSAT, TOEFL, and the FINRA Series licenses). For my university and adult learners, I also offer business course focused tutoring, all things related to international affairs (political science, micro and macro econ, etc.), social sciences; as well as anything related to culture or culture change.

My focus when working with learners new to me is quickly matching their learning style with their learning needs. Once we’ve identified your best learning styles, I connect the concepts and ideas you’re learning with your existing experiences to help contextualize the subject in your terms and goals.
