"Hello everyone!

I am a graduate of University of Maryland with a degree in Physics. My educational background also consists of having associate's degrees in Science (Biological Sciences, Mathematics, and Physics) from Montgomery College. I also have had internships at N.I.H. (Biological Science) and at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (Physics with Analytical Chemistry). I aspire to work in the medical field and to teach math & science to underdeveloped and marginalized communities.

I have been tutoring and teaching in academia for over a decade. During high school, I tutored middle school students in math, sciences, and French and as a college student, I have tutored in a variety of subjects and persons with learning disabilities. These include Biology & Chemistry in my college's learning center and as math tutor and TA for the Disability Support Services department and traditional classroom setting respectively.

After graduation, I am teaching elementary school students science and math all while being a tutor on Wyzant. These experiences has allowed me to communicate effectively over a wide age range and demographics.

Mathematics can be tricky in the fact that many students confuse getting the "correct" answer to mean "understanding" the problem. I want students to understand the general concept(s), dissect the question being asked, and then leap into a problem. Can't go into a battle without weapons, I say. This method has helped students complete easier problems and ask more difficult questions on their own. This moves questions from "I don't know how to do this problem" to "What if you do this in the problem" among others. Tutoring in the sciences, I take a similar approach.

I understand the feeling of defeat when all you want to do is throw your binder out the window and watch re-runs of Grey's Anatomy in your pajamas. I always have high hopes that anyone can learn anything with effort and determination.

Like always, stay curious about the world around you!" less...
