"Hi! My name is Kamsi (Kam-see) A., and I am a junior currently pursuing my Biology degree at Spelman College, where I also work as a peer tutor. I support undergraduate students weekly in topics ranging from plant biology and systems biology to anatomy and cell biology. I specialize in biology and anatomical sciences, but I also provide academic support in chemistry. I have been tutoring for over two years and love helping students gain confidence in science. My teaching experience spans various settings and age groups, from infants to college students. For three years, I previously served as an assistant teacher at Alphabets Montessori School in Maryland, where I supported holistic learning for children aged infants to 6 years. I also volunteered as a biology tutor for a 7th-grade class at Luther J. Price Middle School through the HBCU Rising program, providing academic aid to students and support for teachers.
In all my roles, I take a student-centered, holistic approach to learning. I believe that students learn best when content is relatable, engaging, and tailored to their specific needs. I love incorporating visuals, videos, diagrams, and real-life examples to capture attention and reinforce understanding. Whether we’re breaking down cell structures or tracing human body systems, I use tools that make complex concepts more approachable. I primarily work one-on-one or in small groups of 3–5 students, where I can give focused personalized support. My goal is to meet students where they are and help them grow not just academically but in their confidence and excitement for learning. Above all, I want students to see that STEM is fun, exciting, and full of opportunity. I’m passionate about inspiring curiosity, building academic literacy, and helping students discover the joy of learning. I hope to tutor you soon!" less...
