"I am an experienced middle school educator with 25 years of experience! I initially was an elementary-certified teacher and student-taught in fifth grade. However, the first teaching position offered to me was teaching sixth grade in a middle school, and I decided to go for it! I ended up falling in love with middle school students and the curriculum.

I have taught all middle school subjects and all levels, except Science. I have a Bachelor's degree from Gardner-Webb University in Elementary Education (grades K-6) and a Master's degree from Appalachian State University in Middle Grades Education with a concentration in English. I am also certified to teach Middle Grades math and social studies and Academically/Intellectually gifted students in grades K-12.

Teaching is most definitely my passion. I love to establish positive relationships with my students so they will feel comfortable with me and be much more likely to achieve their goals and be successful. My favorite thing about being a teacher and a tutor is seeing a students improve and/or master skills in areas where they were previously struggling due to lack of confidence, lack of understanding or other problems.
