My first degree is a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and then I attended graduate school where I received a Masters in Pharmaceutical Sciences. Although I have expertise in science, math is an integral part of pharmacy and pharmaceuticals in that mastering math concepts in elementary and middle school math are necessary to successfully calculate a dose or make a calculation in preparing a pharmaceutical. This has made tutoring math a natural fit and a passion for me!

I have been tutoring Kindergarten to 8th grade students for more than five years. I specialize in the specific subjects of math including elementary school math from Kindergarten to 6th grade, pre-algebra, algebra I, and geometry.

Math is a special subject and is unlike any other. In order for a student to gain proficiency in math, one must practice doing math problems everyday until the student can executive the math concept autonomically. I refer to this as getting the math concept into "muscle memory". I have found this method to be a highly effective approach to students gaining proficiency in math. Once the student becomes comfortable and proficient in a given math concept, this will serve as a positive experience giving them momentum and incentive to master the next concept. In short, practice, practice, and more practice is a must for learning and applying the math concepts.
