"I have Master’s Degree in English Literature and a Master’s Degree in TESOL, as well as my Minnesota Teaching license for ESL/ELL. My Bachelor’s Degree included a major in English, with a minor in Medieval History. Between obtaining my degrees, I worked in the Business sector, owning an insurance company for 10 years. However, my passion has always been teaching, so as soon as I received my teaching license I got back to working with students!

Over the course of the past 6 years, I have been working with students from Kindergarten through College level graduates. At the elementary and secondary levels, I worked with small groups (1-6 students) pushing into the classroom, and pulling kids out to work on specific skills. At St Cloud State, I taught full ESL classes as well as tutoring one-on-one. My specialty (and love) is teaching Reading, Writing and Grammar. With my Social Studies background, I can tutor History and Geography. Some students Have needed help getting admittance to high school, college, or just SAT or ACT prep.

I like to get to know my students individually to really develop what skills we need to work on. Sometimes, what one thinks is the academic problem is NOT the actual need. Humor and laughter is integral to my teaching style! “Exuberant,” and “the funny teacher” are what many of my students have called me. Not all activities are fun, but I try to make the lessons as personal and interesting as possible.
